Borås Energy and Environment wins a global energy award
On the 3rd November the International Energy Agency (IEA) announced the winners of the first global District Energy Climate Award at the District EnergySummitin Copenhagen. Borås Energy and Environment (Borås Energi och Miljö) won with competition from 27 other nominees from 11 countries.
IEA developed the District Energy Climate Award to increase awareness of the environmental, energy security and economic growth benefits offered by efficient district-based energy systems. Borås Energy and Environment was on of six winners in the prestigious competition "District Energy Climate Award". There were 27 applicants from 11 different countries around the world, representing both very large metropolitan areas as well as small communities. The other winners wereUniversityofTexasatAustin ,Copenhagen( Denmark ), Krakow ( Poland ), Dunkerque (France) and Jiamusi (Kina). The winners were announced by a jury of experts from the International Energy Agency. Borås Energy and Environment was awarded for: "its outstanding achievement in demonstrating local district energy leadership in providing clean, sustainable energy solutions to protect against the risk of climate change."
